Seville City Guide

Find every useful bit of Seville information here at Citysiesta. Our Seville guide with links to the most interesting information sources will help you make the most of your stay in the city.

Seville is a city that captures all your senses with its picturesque sights, the delicious tapas, the sound of flamenco and the fragrant atmosphere of Andalusia.

If you’re coming to Seville during springtime, prepare yourself for an unforgettable experience: the processions of Semana Santa and the bullfighting and music of the Feria de Abril will stay in your memory and your heart.

Start by exploring the different neighbourhoods: go to the centre to visit the breathtaking baroque churches or just stride along the streets to discover the vivacity of everyday life in the capital of Andalusia.

Take a walk to the Santa Cruz district, to visit the impressive Cathedral –one of the biggest of the Christian world– with the Giralda tower, where you can see the evolution of regional architecture from 12th to 16th century and climb up the stairs to see the city from above. Don’t miss the Alcazar palace with the beautiful gardens and the impressive interiors.

If you begin to feel tired from sightseeing, what you need is a rest in one of the numerous tapas bars; explore the narrow winding streets of Santa Cruz with the all white architecture, until you find a cosy place to eat in. Or take your time to stroll in the Maria Luisa park and the Plaza España; keep in mind while admiring the adjacent Fábrica de Tabacos, that it was the setting for the famous opera Carmen.

Then start exploring Seville from district to district, visiting the churches and the ancient city walls in Macarena, wandering in the gypsy neighbourhood of Triana to hear genuine flamenco, watching bullfighting in Arenal and getting an image of the most modern part of the city in the western shore of the Guadalquivir River, where the Expo ’92 took place.

You can also take a boat ride along the Guadalquivir River, to have an overview of Seville, far from the busy streets.

Seville is a unique combination of vivid life, picturesque settings and rich culture. Read the essential Seville information here and let our Seville guide and the links we provide you inspire your holidays.
