The area is in the very center of the city, the Rembrandtplein (where you also will find a statue of Rembrandt). This is a outgoing area with lots of cafés, bars and restaurants in the immediate surrounding. In the summer a many people will sit outside on the terraces and specially during the week-ends may alter the noise level, which, if you go out, will not really be a problem for you.
From here the old old center can be easily crossed walking to any direction. But on the square there are also tram stops to all directions, inluding to the Central Station and there is an area for taxis.
