It is a very nice and quiet residential area of Florence, on the border with the Centro Storico. If you are looking for something less hectic and not far from the center, this is an excellent option. It is a very well known area among the Floretines since there are many well known shops and excellent restaurants. Known as an elegant residential neighborhood where you will not find many tourists. You are minutes away from Piazza Beccaria . On that square you find the Porta alla Croce, the Gross Gate, built in 1284 and it's all that's left of the city wall. Inside is a fresco of Michele di Rodolfo.

From here, the center is at walking distance. For instance the Duome is not more than 15-20 minutes walking. If you do that, we recommend you take the Borgo la Croce street. This is a pedestrian street with many things to look at and which takes you right into the heart of the center.

This neighborhood is one of the most popular ones in Florence, you can walk around and find leather shops, craft markets and all kinds of interesting little local shops.
